Community Candidate Forum Sept 10 and 11


 The League of Women Voters of Cache Valley will host Meet the Candidates Nights public forums on Thursday, September 10, and Friday, September 11, 2026 giving Cache Valley voters an opportunity to ask questions

and hear directly from candidates running for local, state and federal offices. Both forums will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Logan. Each night will be moderated by Tom Williams of Utah Public Radio and will be

livestreamed and archived at UPR.org.


Thursday, September 10 will feature candidates for:

• Cache County Council: Districts 2, 3, 5 and 7

• Utah State Legislature: Districts 2, 3 and 5

• U.S. Congress: Congressional District 2

Friday, September 11 will feature candidates for:

• Local school boards: CCSD 2, 4, 7, LCSD 5

• Utah State Board of Education: Seat 1

• Water Board: Two seats


The League of Women Voters of Cache Valley organizes Meet the Candidates Nights to help voters become more informed about the candidates and the issues facing their communities. The forums will provide candidates with an opportunity to introduce themselves, discuss their priorities and respond to questions from voters.

Data Centers ! Three legislative committees Wed., Aug 19

 Three legislative committees are meeting Wednesday morning, August 19, to discuss Data center issues.  The Natural Resources committee will take public coments.  


Meetings on Weds, August 19!

There are 3 Utah State Legislature Interim Committee meetings worth attending or watching on August 19. 

Since these are all happening at the same time, attending the first two virtually might be helpful, with the best opportunity for public comment at 9:05am at the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment meeting,

Agenda item #2: Data Center Policy The committee will receive presentations regarding the existing data center permitting checklist and best practices, data center power demands and tradeoffs between water and energy use, and economic impact of data centers.

Agenda item #3: Data Center Tax Incentives The committee will receive a presentation on recent studies by the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute related to Utah data centers and the effects of tax incentives on local and state revenue.
