ACTION: HOW TO CONTACT CONGRESS

How to contact our elected officials:

Congress should be composed of a variety of people, instead MAGA has seized control.  Register to vote please and write congress to express your views.  Artist

                    BELOW FIND talking points about
  • war-mongering of Trump, Miller and Hegseth
    1. brutal and illegal terror by DHS, FBI and DOJ.
Call lawmakers directly.  This is thought to be most effective. Leave a voicemail after hours.  Focus on one topic at a time.  Call several times a day.  Leave voicemail messages including your zip code.

TEXT THEM using Resistbot.

  • This is another automated system that lets a resident contact several lawmakers at once using one "text" message.
  • Text the word "resist" to 50409.
  • Once you set up the system with your personal information, sending a message to all federal lawmakers, or all state officials, is like writing a simple text.
  • Open letters are written by other patriotic citizens and you can repurpose their messages to advocate to your lawmakers.
  •  I start every original message with a version of the following statement:  "These are my own words. I use this automated system to send the same message to several elected officials at once. The country is in danger of permanent dictatorship--- unless you honor your oath of office, follow moral dictates of your faith, and ACT TO defend our democracy.
  • Resistbot also provides texts of petitions.  Those are usually very well written, informative, and can be copied and pasted --with your own twist- into a personal message.
  • Resistbot share sopen letters from different parts of the country too: UTAH is here

  • Resistbot guide is here

Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG) have great suggestions for reaching out to our electeds:

To contact lawmakers as part of MWEG (Mormon Women for Ethical Government), use their website's Calls to Action page for pre-written messages and tools to email or call Congress/state legislators, or use official government sites like house.gov or senate.gov to find contact info directly, focusing on one issue per message with specific details for impact.
Using MWEG's Tools
  1. Visit the MWEG Website: Go to mormonwomenforethicalgovernment.org/calls-to-action.
  2. Choose an Issue: Select a topic, such as family, environment, or democracy.
  3. Use the Letter-Writing Tool: MWEG provides templates and prompts to help you write and send emails directly to your federal or state representatives.
General Contact Methods (Federal & State)
  • Find Your Legislator: Use tools on house.gov/representatives for House members or senate.gov/senators for Senators, or your state's General Assembly website for state reps.
  • Email/Phone/Fax: Once you find them, use their official contact pages for email, phone numbers, or fax.
  • Social Media: Search for their names on platforms like Twitter (X).
Tips for Effective Communication

  • STOP FUNDING  federal government UNTIL THE state-sanctioned violence by DHS + FBI + DOJ  stops. Murder, neglect, torture, disrespect, mockery, demeaning treatment are deliberately inflicted on all people by

  • Hold them criminally liable for their lawlessness and brutal cruelty.
  • Here are some talking points:
  • Key Democratic Demands for 2026 Funding [annotated]
Democratic leadership, including Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, have laid out a list of "guardrails" for ICE and Border Patrol, which include:
    • Prohibit DHS actions in sensitive areas: Not limited to but at least the following:
      • No actions or presence at polling places,
      • No actions or presence near churches,
      • No actions of presence near schools, or day cares, nursing homes or other collection sites of people.
      • No detentions of children.
      • No more tear-gassing, or pepper spray, or explosion bombs, or battering rams against protestors or observers, or legal residents, foreign students, tourists, or other non violent persons.
      • No use of children or relatives as BAIT to lure undocumented persons from safety.
      • No agents or actions around medical clinics of any kind.
      • No shackling of detainees in clinics or hospitals.

    • STOP terrorizing immigrants, visa holders, students, and others with a legal right to be in the USA.  Focus on violent convicted criminals, as promised.

    • Change the law so that criminal agents can be sued by their victims.  Addition of 4 words would do this.
      • Agent Exum, who tried to murder citizen Marimar Martinez is one agent who must be brought to account.
    • STOP lying, slander, and orchestrated over-the-top character assassinations of victims of DHS violence, and terror.
    • Defund new detention centers.
    • Close the existing detention centers that do not allow instant inspection by congress.
    • Close the existing detention centers that have measles outbreaks.
    • Close the existing detention centers that fail to treat detainees humanely (this is probably all of them)
    • Prohibit interaction with protestors and observors.  Make the law automatically dock the pay of agents who violate it, and worse.
    • Stricter Warrant Requirements: Mandating judicial warrants for entering private property.  [No more HOME INVASIONS.  NO MORE BATTERING RAMS.  NO MORE DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY.]
    • Use of Force & Conduct: Establishing a universal, strict code of conduct for use of force.
    • Identification Requirements: Requiring agents to display visible identification.
    • Ending Roving Patrols: Prohibiting indiscriminate stops and patrols.
    • Protection for U.S. Citizens: Banning the detention or deportation of U.S. citizens in enforcement operations.
    • Limiting Surveillance: Reining in the use of advanced surveillance systems against protesters.
    • Mandatory Body Cameras: Requiring all agents to wear and operate body cameras.
    • End to Masked Operations: A ban on agents wearing masks during raids and enforcement actions.
