Rally and Vigil for democracy. Remembrance of Renee Good and other victims of ICE violence and neglect

ICE VIOLENCE and neglect MUST STOP

Remembering victims of lawless shootings, neglect in immigration detention, and the out-of-control MASS deportation scheme of the administration.

We met on a cold late afternoon to remember the lives lost to ICE - Renee Good was killed in cold blood on Jan. 7, 2026 by an ICE agent.

We met at street side to protest, and then convened to share thoughts, have several readings, and hear an amazing impromptu song.

Thanks to the approximately 80-120 folks who showed up.

#ICEOUT

OUR MESSAGE-Indivisible:

  • We are outraged by the killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE. She was a 37 year old wife and mother of three children who loved to sing and studied creative writing.
  • Renee was shot in the face by an ICE agent.
  • We grieve her death and the deaths of all those killed in ICE detention.
  •  We grieve those who suffer from violence, neglect, intimidation, and amoral actions of this regime.

  • ICE has been escalating its cruel deployments into our communities.
  • This recent killing is not an isolated incident, but the devastating and predictable result of ICE's lawless operations and President Trump's abuse of power.

  • ICE and CBP have endangered our communities. Our neighbors fear for their livelihoods and their lives, and our communities are less safe.

  • We won't stand for it.

  • We demand accountability for the killing and an end to ICE and CBP raids. We will not sit by while violence goes unanswered and our communities are terrorized.

We will meet ICE's violence with steadfast nonviolence and lawful protest.

We hold events over the weekend to center solidarity with individuals and communities already impacted by ICE violence.

Fatal Shootings by Immigration Agents (2025-2026)
Several (>=4) individuals were killed by on- or off-duty ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents during this period.
  • Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez (38), shot and killed by an ICE officer in Franklin Park, Illinois, in September 2025.
  • A Mexican national (unnamed, 31) was fatally shot by a Border Patrol agent near Rio Grande City, Texas, in December 2025.
  • Keith Porter Jr. (also named as Johnny Noviello in one source), fatally shot by an off-duty ICE agent in Los Angeles, California, on December 31, 2025.
  • Renée Nicole Good (37, U.S. citizen), fatally shot by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 7, 2026.
Official statistics and records of these incidents can be accessed on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) website via their Detainee Death Reporting page. Independent organizations like the Detention Watch Network and The Trace also track these incidents and provide data.

  • 1 DEAD citizen parked in street near her home: Minneapolis, Minnesota (January 7, 2026): Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, was fatally shot by an ICE agent during an enforcement operation. The agent claimed to fear for his life, while bystanders and video footage reportedly dispute that account.
    • NOEM SLANDERS AND BLAMES VICTIM BEFORE ANY FACTS WERE KNOWN: About 1.5 hours after Renee was killed, and about one hour after Renee started to get delayed and possibly subpar medical attention, Secretary of Homeland Security Noem was already fabricating lies about her.
    • Medical aid was refused and hindered by ICE agents.  A video from the inside of a home next to the final resting place of Renee's car showed no one attending to Renee after she was shot. For at least 30 second, no one was helping Renee.
    • The agent who shot Renee point blank 3 times in the face checked that she was dead before walking away unhared and fleeing the scene
    • The agent who shot Renee called her a F-ing B-ch  during or after shooting her dead ----from safety at the side of her vehicle.
    • The Agent deliberately placed himself near the front of her vehicle in a common tactic that immigrant agents use to "justify" lethal force.  This behavior is in violation of policy since ~2013.
    • The agent who shot Renee was in clear violation of several DHS policies.

    • See the video from witness posted by Reuters.
    • more in another blog post.

  • 1 injured: Two people were injured in Glen Burnie, Maryland (December 24, 2025): ICE agents shot and injured an individual who allegedly tried to run them over with a vehicle.
    •  NOTE THE "ICE AGENTS WERE THE VICTIMS" SCRIPT WAS BEING USED HERE.
    • THIS IS TYPICAL OF ICE SPOKESPERSONS WHENEVER ICE AGENTS APPLY LETHAL FORCE AGAINST PEOPLE.
  • 1 killed and 2 injured as a result of sniper firing at victims being driven to detention in Dallas, Texas (September 2025): One detainee was killed and two others critically injured in a shooting at an ICE facility, after a gunman opened fire from a nearby rooftop and later died from a self-inflicted.

  • Immigration agents were annoyed that Marimar Martinez was using her rights to follow them, safely, as she warned others of CBP's presence.  Exum, a CBP agent tried to murder her in cold blood and then framed her for her own attempted murder.  He has not been charged with the attempted murder!!!!! DEMAND IT.

  • 1 shot 5 times,  Marimar Martinez, Chicago.
    • This citizen was slandered and charged after an CPD agent attempted to murder her.  See more
    • Marimar, Montessori teacher, miraculously survived after being rammed by ICE Agent
