Utah voters: Remember the impact of YOUR votes!
We voters had several huge wins in 2025 and 2026
Voting matters because some elections are tied! Others come down to only a few voters!
Voters scored several wins:
1. We overcame 8 years of congressional gerrymandering by GOP supermajority,
2. We slowed down the Stratos hyper-scale data center and gas-fired power plant. Lawmakers were forced to listen to us voters, and some even apologized.
3. Plans for build a giant concentration camps in our state were scrapped-- in large part due to our push-back.
4. We protected and restored the collective bargaining rights of Utah's teachers, police, and fire-fighters
Utah voters did that! Keep going......
Win 1: Utah Voters stopped the GOP gerrymander
after 6-8 years of lawbreaking
This map shows how the Salt Lake valley was divided up into 4 pie slices in a common partisan anti-voter process called CRACKING. Source
Utah voters had to sue for our 2018 law to be enforced. WE WON!
Utah voters in Salt Lake area are on track to elect their choice for congress.

This law was enacted in 2018 but the GOP supermajority refused to honor the law of the people until lawsuits in 2026 forced the issue. THANK YOU BURRN and Better Boundaries for this success. |
Recall this:
Win 2: Utah Voters are showing the nation how to fight the data center profiteers among the Utah GOP supermajority, governor's office, and MIDA.
MIDA was exposed to be a scam agency for "giving" our tax money to buddy developers
a) Utah voters successfully slowed the Stratos Project.
Zero construction has begun. Permitting is holding up the process. Even GOP lawmakers are talking about "reforming" the agency. Abolished would be better.
b) Kevin O'Leary, the celebrity sponsor of the Stratos project, had to apologize for calling Utah advocates "Communist Chinese spies".
c) Celebrity investor Kevin O’Leary is currently being sued for defamation alongside Fox News over his comments surrounding the controversial Stratos data center project in Box Elder County, Utah. [1, 2]
d) Governor Cox was forced to recant his original verbal attack on the Utah Public. He verbally attacked citizens pushing back on his Stratos Ponzi scheme.
e) Gov Cox objected to oversight, protections of our public river and lake water, air, economy, land, and tax moneys. Voters were insisting on our rights and Cox originally ranted that we must IMMEDIATELY approve the highly destructive Stratos project. Fast-track process was being pushed by lawmakers, developers and financiers on the board of the highly irregular and possibly illegal Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA).
e) MIDA was exposed as an unelected state entity that has run amok in our state.
The Utah Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA) has faced severe public backlash and multiple lawsuits. Critics and watchdog groups argue that the agency operates with a lack of transparency and uses public funds to benefit private, hand-picked developers. SL Tribune.
f) MIDA was shown to have these serious problems:
(YOU EXPOSED THIS!. The FREE press was key too)
- self-dealing,
- no transparency
- extremely limited public input or accountability,
- lawmakers appointed themselves to the board of directors
- negligible oversight,
- fake or trivial military benefit of projects,
- no meaningful assessment of the economic benefits of project,
- magical thinking about the source of enegy
- magical thinking about water use
- magical thinking about pollution
- no thinking about gweologic hazards,
- no plan to mitigate the extreme amounts of toxi e waste generated by data centers and gas fired power plants
- reliance on old energy sources that worse carbon pollution and climate crisis
- siting on shores of a collapsing saline lake
- no meaningful assessment of environmental impacts of a project, and
- far too much power to confiscate public land, rights and tax money.
g) There is now a serious discussion about disbanding MIDA for its corruption, lack of transparency and illegal capture of public goods. Governor Cox even admitted MIDA is deeply flawed.
h) Fox News issues a formal apology for smearing Utah advocates on their shows.
i) Fox news fired the 'so-called journalist" who had platformed the lies about Utah advocates.
j) Utah voter started the house-cleaning process during the 2026 primary. We removed three lawmakers from office for their profiteering and lack of voter input.
k) Governor Cox was exposed as raking in 1.6 million in corporate donations despite not being on the ballot for any position. The donors benefits from his push for Great-Salt-Lake-killing projects like Stratos, for nuclear energy, for nuclear waste storage in our state. The governor appears to be setting up a down-winders 2 scenario in our state.
Win 3: Utah citizens united across many groups to prevent a giant concentration camp from being built here.
We stopped a 7500-bed concentration camp in Salt Lake City.
The facility was not going to be a detention center. Without the rule of law a prison facility is actually a concentration camp.
DHS agents and policy in 2025-2026 give its kidnapping victims NO meaningful OPPORTUNITY TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHTS.
KidnaPPING Victims are routinely held in crowded, filthy, dangerous CONDITIONS, with too little food and clean water, and almost NO medical care.
Victims experience SYSTEMIC AND VIOLENT racism, assault, rape, medical neglect, and torture.
Medicine AND MEDICAL CARE withheld from some victims has led to their preventable deaths. Most of us call this homicide or murder.
Over 100 people have been killed by THE DHS IMMIGRATION agency since January 2025.
All these crimes are well documented.
Opposition to the concentration camp came from Utah citizens, city and county lawmakers, advocacy groups, the free press, faith groups, editorial writers, and democratic lawmakers.
By working together we achieved this huge win!

WIN 4: Utah voters restored the collective bargaining rights of our police, fire-fighters and teachers.
Utah collective bargaining rights for police, firefighters, and teachers were restored by Utah Voters, after GOP lawmakers took their rights away. In the face of a major backlash from upset voters, GOP lawmakers of the supermajority, backed down. See more details below.
Lawmakers realized that they would lose a ballot initiative and instead of being humiliated by us voters, they withdrew their attack on police, firefighters, and teachers [1]
- The Ban (H.B. 267): In February 2025, the Utah Legislature passed House Bill 267—which stripped collective bargaining rights from public-sector employees—and Governor Spencer Cox signed it into law. [1]
- The Backlash & Referendum Campaign: Led by Protect Utah Workers, labor groups gathered over 320,000 signatures in early 2025 to force a veto referendum on the ballot. [1, 2]
- The Legislative Repeal: Facing massive public pressure and a looming referendum, the Utah Legislature voted during a special session in December 2025 to officially repeal H.B. 267, restoring the workers' negotiating rights before the measure ever reached a general election vote. [1, 2]
ADVICE on good candidate for public office:
If so, do they respectfully and truthfully answer questions? Vote for these candidates if they share your values.
Do they take up all the time and prevent voters from having a say? Vote them out.
